Google Sites and TypeWith.me - Only share one page on a Google Sites workaround...

Can you share and collaborate only a single Google Sites page? No I´m afraid your can´t, but there are workaround that will get you quite good results anyway.

Some time we do not want to share a whole Google Site with someone, rather just a single page. Sure, you can embed a Google Docs Document, however that document can not be edited on the website, since you can only edit a document if you open it in Google Docs, and you also have to set the sharing options to allow certain people to edit the document.

I have discovered a quick solution to this problem by combining an iframe and a TypeWith.me document. This simple solution also provides a chat room, and the option to export what is written into Word, PDF, plain text and more.

Here is the process step by step:

Create a TypeWith.me document
1) Go to http://typewith.me/
2) Click "Create a New Document"

3) Your document is now created. Copy the URL to the document (click "Share This" or copy from the adress field. The adress should be something like this: http://typewith.me/aabbccddee)

Now let us see how we can embed the TypeWith.me document in to your Google Site Page

Embed the TypeWith.me document in to your Google Site Page

1) Go to edit mode on the Google Site page you want to be able to "edit"
2) Go Insert - > More gadget...  and search for the term "iframe"
3) You will see a list of results. Choose "iframe  Wrapper" or just "iFrame" they are very similar (if you happen to know the difference, please let me know in the comments)

4) For the set up I have found that the following set up works best:

• Name: Anything you want :)
• Src: paste the URL copied from TypeWith.me
• Width and Height: 100%
• Display Width: 100 %
• Display Height: 600 pixels
• Tick off the boxed "Include scrollbar on gadget when necessary", "Include a border around gadget" and "Display title on gadget"

5) Click "Ok" and "Save your Google Site page"

6) Enjoy the beautiful result of the combination of Google Sites and TypeWith.me
